Rwandan - Decorative Containers

These decorative containers are hand-woven from natural fibers and grasses, such as sisal fibers, sweet grass, banana leaves and raffia. They are dyed with either natural plant pigments or tea leaves as well as with organic dyes. The designs have been woven in many cases for centuries. Variations in color and size may occur, which reflects the individualality of the women who make them.
